Semi-Independent Youth Program

The Semi-Independent Youth Program at Mattias Residence for Youth supports young adults, 18 years and older, in their transition toward independent living. This program is designed for individuals who demonstrate the potential for self-sufficiency but require structured guidance to develop the skills necessary for independent living.

Program Description:

  • Participants work closely with trained staff to build essential life skills, including interpersonal communication, employment readiness, financial management, and problem-solving strategies.

  • Individualized coaching and emotional support are provided to foster resilience, confidence, and self-awareness.

  • Residents gradually assume greater responsibility for daily living tasks while still having access to guidance as needed.

Program Goals and Outcomes:

  1. Skill Development: Residents gain practical skills for independent living, including budgeting, meal preparation, and time management.
  2. Employment and Education: Support is provided to enhance job readiness, explore educational opportunities, and maintain meaningful engagement in work or school.
  3. Social and Emotional Growth: Residents develop coping strategies, healthy relationships, and communication skills to navigate challenges successfully.
  4. Safety and Well-Being: The program ensures a structured, supervised environment where residents can practice independence while maintaining personal safety.
