FAMILY FOCUS

At Mattias, we focus on Family and Children or Youth, as in many often-young people in group care are isolated from their family psychologically, emotionally and/or physically. This can be intensified by program rules and practices which may separate them further. Family involvement in the day-to-day life of a program, in daily decision making, and in the healing program is essential to overcoming this sense of isolation. As well, understanding a young person’s family and their position in their family helps us better understand the young person, their actions and their interpretations of experiences. At Mattias we have a compassionate team with a keen desires to help children and families as they overcome challenges and strive to create a better, healthier life. We support individuals in our care, who are dealing with addictions and work closely with children, adolescents and families as they face social, emotional, behavioural and mental health concerns and provide support for their needs. We assess and implement appropriate prevention and intervention strategies aimed to inspire real and lasting change. We provide counsel and support, and develop strategies to foster healthy child development, and address family dynamics and addiction.
